Chris Beckett, a British Writer

In the world of scriptures and writings, there are many famous writers all over the world. British writer, Chris Becket, is also a senior university lecturer, author of science fiction and a novelist.

He studied Psychology at the Cambridge University. He earned a diploma in social work and an MA in English studies. He worked as a senior university lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University. He started writing in 1990. His first writings were short stories. His first science fiction book was entitled ’The Holy Machine‘ and was released in 2004. Paul Di Filippo, an American science fiction writer commented on Beckets first novel. He said it was one of the most accomplished novels he had ever read. Becket wrote 12 short stories for ‘Interzone’. A collection of short stories and two of the short stories were published in ‘Asimov’s’. Tony Ballantyne, a famous British science fiction author, also reviewed the book and found it incredible. Beckett said that science fiction had a connexion to his career as a social worker The three short stories that earned good feedback from the readers were ’La Machina‘, ’The Welfare Man‘ and ’Valour‘. The best of the ‘Interzone’ collections were ’Valour‘ and ’The marriage of Sky and Sea‘, which were both awarded as the Year’s Best Science Fiction. He also became the author of five textbooks all related to his career as a social worker.
